Community Support

Giving back to our community for social good!

We support great community causes and initiatives whether they are big or small.

To serve our purpose we like to support organisations that can clearly show they provide value to our community. Preference is given to applications which engage or benefit larger numbers of people in our community - especially children and youth.

In general, applications from churches and religious organisations need to demonstrate wider community benefit; and applications from schools need to show the project or initiative either extends students’ educational opportunities outside of school hours and/or off school property or extends community use of the school property outside of school hours.

Our giving back to the community has two areas of funding

The first area of funding is generated from profits from our commercial operations, being our hospitality venues and property assets.

The Trustees are guided by the Wiri Licencing Trusts polices and have considerable discretion over the allocation of these funds to our community.

These grants, donations and sponsorships are generally for between $500 and $1,000 per annum.

Gaming machines are present in our hospitality venues and these machines are owned and operated by separate gaming societies called The Trusts Community Foundation (TTCF) and Trillian Trust.

Under New Zealand’s gaming laws, our trustees’ have a say in the distribution of the net proceeds of gaming funds collected in our catchment area, by way of monthly recommendations to TTCF and Trillion Trust. This ensures the net proceeds from these gaming machines goes back into our community.

We encourage community organisations within the Wiri Licensing Trust area to apply to TTCF and Trillion for funding assistance for worthwhile community projects, especially those which are supported by our purpose.

Should you require further information or assistance in developing your application, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

We are very aware of the personal, social and economic costs associated with gaming machines, with problem gambling and associated personal and family impacts. As such, we work closely with TTCF and Trillion to minimise harm and maintain high standards at our venues.
